Experience of some foreign countries in providing public control by the media

Abstract

This article examines and analyzes the experience of some foreign countries in providing public oversight by the media. Among the forms of direct public control over the activities of citizens’ government, appeals play an important role, and international experience shows that citizens have the right to submit individual and collective appeals to public authorities, local authorities and officials. In considering the appeal, the citizen, as a rule, has the right to receive a written response on the merits of the issues raised in the appeal and to appeal against the decision or action taken on the appeal, as well as inaction.
