Abstract

This article examines and analyzes the experience of some foreign countries in providing public oversight by the media. Among the forms of direct public control over the activities of citizens’ government, appeals play an important role, and international experience shows that citizens have the right to submit individual and collective appeals to public authorities, local authorities and officials. In considering the appeal, the citizen, as a rule, has the right to receive a written response on the merits of the issues raised in the appeal and to appeal against the decision or action taken on the appeal, as well as inaction. In connection with the administrative or judicial review of the appeal. Appeals of citizens to public authorities and local self-government bodies, as a rule, are made in the form of recommendations, applications and complaints. The main content of citizens’ control over the activities of the government lies in them. The experience of the United States, Europe, Great Britain and the Russian Federation was also studied and analyzed.
