Abstract

This article analyzes the issues of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations in the field of combating illegal migration. The study highlights the essence of the main international legal documents adopted within the framework of the UN, in particular, the 2000 Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the 2018 Global Compact on Safe, Orderly, and Legal Migration. The article analyzes Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) across key areas. Attention will also be paid to the issues of bringing national legislation in line with international standards, digitalization of migration management, protection of human rights, and strengthening regional cooperation. According to the analysis results, existing problems in cooperation with the UN were identified – weak law enforcement practice, an insufficient information exchange system, economic factors, and low legal culture. The author put forward promising proposals for eliminating these problems, deepening international cooperation, and improving migration policy. The research results will have theoretical and practical significance for the effective organization of Uzbekistan’s migration policy within the framework of the UN and the strengthening of international cooperation.
