Abstract

This article analyzes the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Personal Data” based on a comparative-legal and systematic approach in the context of a modern digital society. The study highlights the similarities and differences between national legislation and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and assesses the effectiveness of current legal norms in protecting personal data. Additionally, issues related to artificial intelligence, cross-border data exchange, the “right to be forgotten,” data leak notification, and the independence of the competent authority were analyzed, and scientific proposals and recommendations aimed at improving national legislation were developed.
