Abstract

The article is devoted to the constitutional and legal guarantees for protecting attorney–client confidentiality in the context of the digitalization of legal practice. It examines the importance of confidentiality in the relationship between a lawyer and a client for ensuring the right to qualified legal assistance, the right to privacy, and the effective protection of human rights. Based on an analysis of the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the article identifies legal issues related to the storage, transmission, and processing of confidential information in the digital environment. It proposes a doctrinal model of the “digital immunity of a lawyer,” encompassing legal, organizational and procedural, as well as technical safeguards. Particular attention is paid to the use of artificial intelligence in legal practice and to preserving the lawyer’s professional control over the adoption of legally significant decisions.
